NAWIC NH - In Our Community
The members of NAWIC Chapter #218 volunteer their time at many different organizations and events which benefit the NH community. There are several annual events that our group participates in such as NH Construction Career Days and Block Kids. Several members give countless hours of time and energy to other valuable groups that they are passionate about such as, Special Olympics or Girls at Work, Inc. We all help to support each other in any way we can by lending a helping hand or by raising funds for these great events when needed. Please read more below about the fabulous non-profit groups, charities and events our NH members are involved with.

Goffstown Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program that educates citizens about the hazards they face in their community and trains them in lifesaving skills. If needed following a disaster, we citizen-responders use our training as part of a neighborhood or workplace team to help others when professional responders are overwhelmed or not immediately available. CERT members provide immediate assistance to victims in our community, organize spontaneous volunteers who have not had the training, and collect disaster intelligence that will assist professional responders with prioritization and allocation of resources when they arrive.
The CERT program is supported by the NH State Bureau of Emergency Management (BEM), the NH State Citizen Corp Council, the Volunteer NH! group and the Town of Goffstown. Patricia Stagno, our current chapter president, is a member of the Goffstown Citizen Emergency Response Team.

Block Kids
The Block-Kids Building Program is a national building program competition that is sponsored on the local level by NAWIC chapters and other organizations. Our Granite State Chapter #218 has been holding this event for several years at various elementary after-school programs in New Hampshire. The competition involves the construction of various structures with interlocking blocks and three of the following additional items: a small rock, string, foil and poster board.
Small prizes are given to each student who participates and then all projects are scored using the NAWIC Block-Kids entry forms. The top three building projects are given special prizes by our chapter and the highest scoring project advances to the Regional Competition. One semi-finalist from each region is entered in the National Program competition. Its a fun event for young students and NAWIC volunteers alike that helps to increase construction career awareness and interest.
